HiDock APP
Changelog

What's new in HiDock App.

In alpha, things move fast. Every release, in plain language — newest first.

v0.21.1 2026-09-04 Latest
  • ~FixedTodos inside a meeting note now finish and reopen just like they do on the Todo page, and both views stay in sync.
  • ~FixedChinese todo owners and links back to the original conversation are preserved more reliably.
  • ~ImprovedTodo boxes are smaller and square, the vertical rail is now labeled Timeline, and Recent cards, the summary Stop button, and sidebar badges line up cleanly.
v0.21.0 2026-08-28
  • +NewA new, more complete summary layout — About Meeting, Meeting Outline, Overview, and Todo List — that captures more of what was actually discussed in your meeting.
  • ~ImprovedTo-do extraction understands the new layout, including deadlines written inline, and each to-do's link back to the transcript is more trustworthy — uncertain ones are marked instead of guessed.
  • ~ImprovedOptional anonymous usage stats now include the meeting's language and transcription speed — never any content — so we know which languages to improve next.
v0.20.19 2026-08-27
  • ~FixedWhen only the summary fails, the recording no longer looks lost. The note, transcript and timeline stay where they are; the note says the summary failed, and Retry summary now runs right away instead of waiting behind background processing.
  • +NewTodos gain working Sort and Filter — by date, due date, A–Z, or assignee — fully keyboard-reachable.
  • ~Fixed“Open in HiDock App” on a calendar event now does what it says: it creates a Live Note named after the event and opens it.
  • ~FixedMarkdown and PDF exports no longer carry internal metadata, and PDF pages no longer repeat content across page breaks.
  • ~FixedMemory pages render headings, lists and emphasis properly instead of showing raw Markdown marks.
  • ~FixedWhisper labels can now be renamed and deleted. Escape closes folder focus, and in a Live Note it pauses and resumes the way the hint says.
  • ~FixedClearer, actionable messages when a self-hosted endpoint URL is wrong or email delivery fails — no more raw system errors.
  • ~FixedAbout now links the privacy policy, the Help menu reaches the Help Center, and the demo download shows real progress with a working Cancel and Retry.
  • ~FixedDevice recordings show their exact duration once known, firmware status tells the truth about updates, and HDCK-MS can be restored as the default engine after trying SnapGPU.
  • ~ChangedManual audio import is removed. Notes come from your recorders and captures.
v0.20.18 2026-08-25
  • ~FixedThe update banner called the app by a name it does not have. It now says HiDock App, like everywhere else.
v0.20.17 2026-08-25
  • +NewYour notes now have a timeline. A slim time rail sits on the edge of the Notes page — click it and every month of your work opens as one list, newest first, with the busiest months drawn widest. Two years back is one click, not a long scroll.
  • +NewEach note in the timeline shows its length as the size of its dot, so a three-minute fragment and an hour-long meeting no longer look identical.
  • +NewOpen a folder and the timeline re-counts to it, so you can see when a topic was busy and when it went quiet.
  • ~FixedDates now read the way your language writes them — August 2026 in English, 2026年8月 in Chinese and Japanese — including the dates on the sources Ask cites.
v0.20.16 2026-08-24
  • ~ImprovedYour recorder keeps the right time on its own. The manual sync button is gone — connect the device and its clock corrects itself, then simply shows the time.
  • ~FixedA Chinese name mentioned in passing is no longer taken as a speaker’s name. Someone who was only talked about in a meeting could end up labelling one of the voices in it.
  • ~FixedAsk no longer shows raw engine errors, and the local model is brought back automatically if it stops answering.
  • ~FixedAsk now answers in your language throughout — the line describing how much of a note was read was still English in every language.
  • ~FixedIn Ask, the first question no longer floats in the middle of the panel while the answer is being written.
v0.20.15 2026-08-23
  • ~FixedThe app now speaks your language throughout. Setup, the device page, Settings, the restore flow and the engine indicator were all still showing English in places, even with the app set to another language.
  • ~ImprovedCounts read naturally in every language instead of borrowing English pluralisation.
v0.20.14 2026-08-23
  • ~ImprovedUpdates are about a third of the size and far more reliable. The app used to re-download its speech and speaker models with every update, even though they never changed — it now keeps them and updates only what actually changed.
  • ~FixedUpdates now go through your system proxy, the same way model downloads already did. On connections that need one, an update that could stall for minutes finishes in seconds.
  • ~ImprovedDevice firmware is fetched when you actually update a device, instead of shipping inside every app update.
v0.20.13 2026-08-23
  • +NewSetup never waits on the engine. Every step of onboarding stays clickable while the transcription and summary models download in the background — start recording straight away, and notes transcribe themselves as soon as the engine lands.
  • ~ImprovedClearer wording through setup, in all eight languages.
  • ~FixedThe engine download indicator stays in one place. It used to sit on the left during setup and jump to the right once the app opened, so a download in progress looked like it had moved.
  • ~FixedThe Continue button no longer shifts position from one setup page to the next.
  • ~FixedThe delete button in Settings no longer sits flush against the edge of its panel.
v0.20.12 2026-08-22
  • +NewSetup now runs in the background. You can look around and connect your recorder while the transcription engine downloads, instead of waiting on a progress bar.
  • ~FixedThe recording list no longer hangs on “Loading recording files…”. A recorder with no recordings now says so, and a list that genuinely fails to load shows an error with a Try again button instead of spinning forever.
  • ~FixedA recorder you unplug stops showing as “In use”.
  • ~FixedReplace, Replace all and Add to dictionary now confirm what they did. They were working all along — the confirmation was rendering behind the note window.
  • ~FixedAsk now lets you click through to the meeting it cites, and suggests follow-up questions in the language it answered in.
  • ~FixedDevice time reads reliably instead of reporting that it could not be read.
  • ~ImprovedA re-transcribed note is marked as new, so you can find it again. Settings stays readable at smaller window sizes, and the light/dark switch is legible on large displays.
v0.20.11 2026-08-20
  • ~FixedDevices with more than 143 recordings now load their complete file list. The app used to stop at 143 files — and gave no sign the rest were missing.
v0.20.10 2026-08-19
  • ~ImprovedOur built-in on-device AI model is now named HDCK-MS — same model, same privacy, one consistent name everywhere in the app.
v0.20.9 2026-08-19
  • ~FixedAsk now correctly shows it’s answered by the built-in on-device engine — it was mislabeled as a cloud engine — and shows its privacy note: answered on this Mac, nothing left your Mac.
  • ~FixedAction Items now render correctly in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese summaries.
v0.20.8 2026-08-17
  • +NewYour recordings now live in ~/HiDock — existing libraries move over automatically, and everything that pointed at the old folder keeps working.
  • ~ImprovedImporting several recordings at once no longer slows every summary to a crawl — the built-in engine now processes notes one at a time, so your first summary lands in minutes and background work waits its turn.
  • ~ImprovedModel downloads pick the fastest source for your network and recover cleanly from interrupted transfers.
  • ~ImprovedWhile the built-in engine is still downloading or warming up, notes wait for it instead of failing — and the app no longer asks you to choose an engine that’s already built in.
  • ~ImprovedSpeaker names now also come from clear hand-offs and thanks in the meeting itself — still never guessed.
  • ~FixedSummaries can no longer assign action items to names that never appear in the transcript.
v0.20.7 2026-08-17
  • ~ImprovedAsk now searches inside each meeting’s summary and notes, not just its title and topics — “which meetings mention X” finds every meeting where X came up.
  • ~ImprovedSpeaker names are no longer guessed. A name appears only when the meeting itself states it — someone introduces themselves or is addressed directly — and Ask never presents an unverified name as a fact.
  • ~FixedAction-item answers no longer attribute tasks to people who were merely mentioned in conversation.
v0.20.6 2026-08-16
  • ~FixedWhen a question covered several meetings at once, Ask quietly answered from summaries alone — the transcripts were dropped from the evidence. It now keeps the parts of each transcript that bear on your question.
  • ~ImprovedThe model built into the app now receives the relevant excerpts of a meeting rather than the whole transcript, so more of your meetings fit into a single answer.
  • ~FixedSome questions ended with no answer at all when the first stage of Ask failed. Ask now falls back to its second search pass and answers instead of giving up.
v0.20.5 2026-08-15
  • ~FixedAsk could sit on “composing your answer” indefinitely when the answer engine stopped responding. It now ends with a clear message instead of spinning — and a Stop button lets you end an answer yourself at any time.
  • ~ImprovedQuestions that span your whole library — “list every action item and who owns it” — now answer from every meeting’s task list. They used to come back saying no meetings matched.
  • ~FixedThe source links under an answer open the meeting they name. A shortened or repeated meeting title could previously send you to a different meeting.
  • ~FixedIf a meeting’s index failed to build while it was being imported, it stayed invisible to Ask. Docknote now rebuilds it automatically the next time you open the app.
v0.20.4 2026-08-13
  • ~ImprovedThe built-in on-device summary model is updated to v2. It captures action items — and who owns them — more completely from your meetings.
  • ~ImprovedThe model update installs quietly in the background. Summaries keep working the whole time — nothing goes dark during the download.
v0.20.3 2026-08-07
  • ~FixedA background process could keep running after you quit Docknote, quietly holding on to memory. Over time that made on-device summaries slower. It is now cleaned up when you quit — and any left over from before are cleared the next time you open the app.
v0.20.2 2026-08-07
  • +NewThe device page shows your HiDock’s serial number, ready to copy into a support conversation.
  • ~FixedAction-item source links land on the right transcript moment more reliably — a stray word in a short reply no longer counts as evidence.
v0.20.1 2026-08-02
  • ~FixedA summary could fail against an engine that was actually running. Importing right after launch, while the model was still loading, left that note without an engine for the rest of its run.
  • ~FixedThe language-model download sat at 0% while it was downloading normally.
  • ~ImprovedDownload progress now follows you around the app instead of living on one card, so a running download is never invisible.
  • ~FixedWhile a summary is generating, the card now names the engine doing the work instead of saying “Your engine”.
v0.20.0 2026-08-02
  • +NewSummaries now run on your Mac. hdck4B — our own model — is built into the app, so nothing about a summary leaves your machine.
  • +NewNothing to set up: no key, no account, no server. The model downloads once during setup, alongside the speech engines.
  • ~ImprovedSettings now shows what the on-device engine is doing — ready, starting, or downloading — and lets you retry if it stops.
  • ~ImprovedDocknote asks for microphone access during setup, together with Calendar and Bluetooth, instead of the first time you record.
  • ~ImprovedCloud engines are still there if you want them — they are simply no longer the default.
v0.19.3 2026-08-01
  • ~FixedA recording is no longer lost when speakers can't be told apart. You keep the full transcript and the summary — the note simply says the speakers couldn't be identified.
  • ~FixedSummary section headings now match the language of the recording. Summaries you already have are updated too.
  • ~FixedThe device page no longer reports that it couldn't read your HiDock's clock after a single missed reading.
  • ~FixedRegenerating a summary always finishes now, instead of leaving the note spinning until the next restart.
v0.19.2 2026-07-31
  • +NewYour HiDock H1L can now record a Live Note directly, the same way the P1 does.
  • ~ImprovedStarting a Live Note is a single click — the button goes straight to recording instead of opening a menu first.
  • ~FixedA connected HiDock could be skipped, leaving the note recording from your Mac's microphone instead.
  • ~FixedA recording from a HiDock could come out silent, or quieter than it should be, when the room was quiet as it started.
v0.19.1 2026-07-26
  • +NewYour notes are yours to change — click any note you have already typed to edit it while the recording is still running.
  • +NewClosing a note that is still recording now asks whether to save it or delete it, instead of quietly leaving it running in the background.
  • ~ImprovedThe recording source now shows a dropdown arrow, so it is clear you can click it to switch between your HiDock and your Mac.
v0.19.0 2026-07-26
  • +NewLive Note records from your HiDock. Start a note and it picks up an attached device on its own — or switch between your HiDock and your Mac's mic in the middle of a recording, right from the note itself.
  • +NewA live waveform while you record, so you can see at a glance that the app is actually hearing you.
  • ~FixedLong handwritten notes no longer spill past the edge of the page, and note text is larger and easier to read.
  • ~ImprovedTurning “My Note” off now gives the transcript the full width, and notes arrive one at a time, each with its own highlight.
v0.18.0 2026-07-25
  • +NewLive Note — jot quick notes while you record, and watch them settle onto the right moment in the transcript, in ink, as the meeting is processed. A note that doesn't match any moment stays in the margin as your own handwritten note.
  • ~FixedChinese and other non-English meetings now summarize in the meeting's own language instead of drifting to English.
  • ~FixedRenaming a speaker now updates the summary and action items too, not just the transcript.
  • ~FixedDictionary corrections now apply to terms sitting next to Chinese, Japanese, or Korean text.
v0.17.2 2026-07-21
  • ~FixedPlugging in your HiDock while the app is running now shows the device within seconds — no more restarting the app to see it.
  • ~ImprovedInternal security hardening around which folders the app can read.
v0.17.1 2026-07-19
  • ~ImprovedMeeting-language names now appear in each language's own script — 日本語, العربية, 简体中文 — so they read naturally whatever your app language.
  • ~ImprovedTimes now follow your locale — 24-hour where that's the norm, 12-hour where it isn't.
  • ~FixedSmall grammar and typography touch-ups across the eight translations, including Chinese and Japanese spacing.
v0.17.0 2026-07-19
  • +NewHiDock App now speaks your language. The whole app — every screen, menu and message, right down to the macOS menu bar — is fully translated into eight languages: Español, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文 and 繁體中文. Each was translated by a native speaker, not a machine. Switch anytime in Settings → Profile → App language.
  • ~ImprovedExported notes — PDF and Markdown — now come out in your app's language, dates included.
  • ~FixedThe "New" badge on a note now clears for good once you've opened it, and a corrupt import shows a clear message instead of a raw error code. Plus a range of smaller polish across notes, folders and memory.
v0.16.1 2026-07-17
  • ~FixedMultilingual meetings route correctly: a recording that opens in English no longer forces the whole meeting into English — Arabic meetings now transcribe in Arabic. The app double-checks the language mid-recording and picks the right engine.
  • ~FixedArabic transcripts keep proper word spacing.
  • ~ImprovedTranscription engine reliability for background processing.
v0.16.0 2026-07-15
  • +NewEmail out, rebuilt: send any note as a beautiful email that looks exactly like the note — action items link back to the moment in the transcript.
  • +NewDirect send: connect your own email account (SMTP) and notes go out as rich, fully linked emails — with a full preview before sending. Your notes travel account-to-account, never through our servers.
  • +New紙譜 The Paper Collection: seven historical papers for your notes, from Papyrus to Ingres (Settings → Theme).
  • ~ImprovedEmails follow the meeting's language — nine languages, dates included. Chinese transcription gains automatic punctuation and better language detection.
  • ~ImprovedTransparency: the app now reports anonymous install and usage counts so we can tell how many people HiDock App serves. Never your content — recordings, transcripts and notes stay on your Mac.
v0.15.2 2026-07-13
  • +NewMemory: your notes now build a living library — a book for every person and topic, updated the moment each note finishes processing.
  • +NewAsk about a person and get grounded answers with citations drawn from every meeting you share.
  • ~ImprovedSemantic search models now download automatically — no setup needed for deep recall on fresh installs.
  • ~FixedCalendar permission recovery and smoother update notifications.
v0.15.1 2026-07-13
  • +NewAsk now suggests tappable follow-up questions after each answer, so you can keep digging with one click.
  • ~ImprovedAnswers complete the moment they're ready — suggestions arrive separately and never hold up the conversation.
v0.15.0 2026-07-12
  • +NewAsk your meetings anything and get a grounded, cited answer drawn straight from the transcript — clearly formatted, with links back to who said what.
  • ~ImprovedChoose the AI engine that writes your notes — your own self-hosted model or private SnapGPU — and it's used everywhere: summaries, Ask, renaming, and search.
  • ~FixedA rare crash that could close the app while it sat idle.
  • ~FixedSome recordings could come back with an empty transcript; transcription is now reliable, with smarter handling of non-English audio.
  • ~FixedRenaming a single speaker line, and action-item owners occasionally showing a stray name instead of the speaker.
v0.14.3 2026-07-11
  • ~ImprovedModel downloads are dramatically faster on restricted networks: the app now uses your Mac's system proxy when one is configured, instead of always connecting directly.
  • ~FixedA download that slowed to a crawl now automatically reconnects and picks up where it left off, instead of crawling for hours.
v0.14.2 2026-07-11
  • ~FixedIf speaker naming was interrupted the first time, generating a note's card now retries and fills in the transcript speaker names — it no longer gives up after a partial attempt.
  • ~FixedA speaker is no longer occasionally mislabeled with a common word (like a "topic" word) instead of a real name.
v0.14.1 2026-07-09
  • ~ImprovedThe "time remaining" during first-run setup updates calmly now instead of flickering every second.
  • ~FixedIf you add your AI engine after importing a note, generating its card now correctly names the transcript speakers too — not just the summary.
  • ~FixedA note whose summary finished no longer stays stuck showing "Summarizing" — it now settles to done.
v0.14.0 2026-07-09
  • ~ImprovedFirst-run model download is now solid: the time-remaining estimate is accurate and the progress bar is a single, steady sweep instead of jumping back to the start.
  • ~ImprovedDownloads now have an automatic backup source — if one server slows or stalls, setup switches over and resumes right where it left off, so it doesn't get stuck.
  • ~FixedSetup only finishes once every model file is fully in place — no more "finished" that leaves an incomplete engine.
v0.13.21 2026-07-09
  • +NewSnapGPU now works out of the box — no setup. Choose it during onboarding and private cloud inference just works.
  • ~ImprovedSmoother first-run setup: the window can be dragged, the download progress bar spans the full width, and the engine labels are clearer.
  • ~FixedThe transcription-model download now verifies it finished completely and shows a clear error with Retry, instead of quietly hanging on an incomplete download.
v0.13.20 2026-07-08
  • +NewFolders now file your matching notes in automatically the moment you create one — with a live filing animation as each note lands.
  • ~FixedThe in-app update progress bar no longer jumps around while downloading.
  • ~FixedMeeting to-do items link back to their exact spot in the transcript again.
v0.13.19 2026-07-07
  • +NewSnapGPU is now a choice for writing your notes — private cloud inference with zero setup. Your audio always stays on your Mac; SnapGPU processes only text, then forgets it.
  • ~ImprovedThe first-run transcription-engine download now shows about how much time is left.
v0.13.18 2026-07-07
  • ~FixedFixed a startup issue that could stop the app from opening after an update.
  • ~FixedFixed a rare crash that some Macs hit right at launch.
  • ~FixedIn-app updates are more reliable and no longer occasionally close the app without reopening it.
  • ~FixedRestores notes that could stop opening after updating from an older version — they’re recovered automatically on first launch.
  • ~ImprovedThe Settings update dot gives a gentle nudge now and then while you’re idle, and clears once you’ve seen it.
v0.13.16 2026-07-07
  • +NewWhen a new version is available, a quiet red dot appears on Settings while you’re idle — no pop-ups, no interruptions.
  • ~ImprovedCleaner meeting summaries.
v0.13.15 2026-07-07
  • ~FixedMeeting participants get named reliably again — speaker naming uses whichever AI engine you’ve configured, and never runs before you’ve picked one.
v0.13.14 2026-07-06
  • ~ImprovedMaintenance update: internal reliability and stability improvements.
v0.13.13 2026-07-06
  • +NewEveryone you enroll gets their own color, used everywhere their name appears — across every note. Unconfirmed voices show as provisional until you confirm them, and a red dot tells you when one is waiting.
  • ~ImprovedFirst-run setup is now solid on slow or unstable networks — the AI-engine download recovers from stalled connections, resumes where it left off, and shows honest progress while it works.
  • ~FixedShort recordings no longer lose their transcript, and a finished transcript appears the moment it’s ready.
  • ~FixedThe Bluetooth permission no longer pops up before you’re asked during onboarding.
v0.13.12 2026-07-04
  • +NewWhile a note is transcribing or summarizing, HiDock App now reassures you it’s safe to close — it keeps working in the background.
  • +NewYour notes are now encrypted at rest on your Mac.
  • ~ImprovedSorting a note into a folder shows a live filing animation; hover a folder to delete it (your notes are kept); to-dos are now labelled with their folder.
  • ~ImprovedFaster meeting summaries and better Chinese transcription.
  • ~FixedA finished note could occasionally still show as “generating” — it now completes correctly.
v0.13.11 2026-07-03
  • +NewA new voice-identity model recognises your enrolled speakers more reliably — tuned on real-world recordings.
  • +NewSpeakers named in your notes now count toward voice enrollment automatically — confirm a voice after it appears in three recordings.
  • ~ImprovedVoice confirmation works on short recordings, and duplicate imports of the same audio no longer skew enrollment.
  • ~FixedM4A imports now show waveforms and work in voice confirmation ("Not enough audio yet" no longer appears in error).
  • ~FixedA rare profile-file issue could silently drop enrolled voices — repaired and hardened.
  • ~ImprovedThe AI Engine settings page states the privacy promise once, clearly.
v0.13.10 2026-07-02
  • +NewConfirm a speaker’s voice once and HiDock App recognises that voice automatically in future meetings.
  • +NewEarphone-model icons in the BlueCatch panel make paired devices easier to tell apart.
  • ~ImprovedSummaries no longer show internal processing headers — just your meeting content.
  • ~FixedRenaming a speaker now updates the summary and to-dos everywhere, including Chinese meetings.
  • ~FixedSome Chinese meetings failed at the last processing step — resolved.
v0.13.9 2026-07-01
  • ~ImprovedLocal AI summaries are much faster — no more waiting on the model to "think" before it answers.
  • +NewVoice notes now transcribe Chinese correctly, with automatic language detection.
  • +NewYour HiDock P1 connects automatically over Bluetooth and USB.
  • +NewCustom dictionary corrections now apply to your transcripts and summaries.
  • ~FixedNotes no longer get stuck on "summarizing".
  • ~FixedThe audio waveform stays visible after a note is summarized.
v0.13.8 2026-06-29
  • ~FixedSpeaker labels now work right after install, even on networks where model downloads were blocked — the speaker model ships inside the app and runs entirely on your Mac.
  • ~Fixed"Grant Calendar Access" now reliably opens the macOS permission prompt during setup.
  • ~FixedText on the Calendar & Bluetooth permission screen is now readable in dark mode.
  • ~ImprovedClearer wording during first-time setup.
v0.13.7 2026-06-29
  • ~FixedFirst-time setup now completes reliably on networks where some downloads were previously blocked — transcription and speaker labels are ready right after install.
  • ~FixedResolved a background issue where a model that failed to load could keep retrying and slow your Mac down.
v0.13.6 2026-06-27
  • +NewVoice Marks — the "this matters" presses on your HiDock now show up right on the waveform and transcript, so the moments you flagged are easy to find.
  • +NewPost a whisper note straight to X, with an optional one-tap cleanup that tidies filler words before you share.
  • ~ImprovedWaveforms now appear instantly when you open a note, instead of taking a moment to draw.
  • ~ImprovedA voice mark now highlights the moment in context — a few seconds before and after — not just a single instant.
  • ~ImprovedFirst-time setup downloads everything it needs up front and defaults to the recommended cloud engine.
  • ~FixedTranscript timestamps read cleaner — whole seconds, no stray decimals.
v0.13.5 2026-06-26
  • ~FixedResolved a startup crash on some Macs — the app now launches reliably on every Apple-silicon Mac, no developer tools required.
  • ~FixedOn-device language detection now works on every Mac.
  • ~ImprovedFriendlier, clearer messages when something goes wrong — no more cryptic technical errors.
  • ~ImprovedFirst-note engine setup is clearer, and shows the engine you actually connected.
v0.13.3 2026-06-25
  • +NewYour first note now walks you through choosing a summary engine — self-hosted, your own key, or SnapGPU — before it writes anything.
  • ~ImprovedClearer first-run engine setup, with better-balanced onboarding navigation.
  • ~FixedThe summary panel now shows the engine you actually connected — no stray engine name while a note is processing.
v0.13.2 2026-06-25
  • +NewPick a default AI engine — switch between your configured engines in one click.
  • ~ImprovedVoice memos and device recordings always import — no extra setup needed.
  • ~ImprovedOnboarding is now fully translated across nine languages.
  • ~ImprovedClearer speaker names in Chinese meetings, plus a Retry on failed summaries.
  • ~ImprovedMore reliable BlueCatch earphone detection and a smoother first launch.
v0.13.0 2026-06-25
  • +NewChoose your summary engine — self-hosted, your own API key, or SnapGPU.
  • +NewPaper themes now apply across the whole app.
  • ~ImprovedOgg / Opus recordings import automatically.
  • ~ImprovedSettings simplified — Design folded into Theme.
